AUC 101 – Bid Calling:
This subject introduces students to bid calling. Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to 1) know how the bid call works; 2) understand and implement the psychology of selling; and 3) control their body to best project the bid call. AUC 103 – Professionalism and Ethics:
This subject introduces students to professionalism and ethics for auctioneers. AUC 104 – Opening Statements:

AUC 105 – Salesmanship:
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to 1) sell a customer on the auction method of marketing to obtain an auction contract; 2) sell customers auction products; and 3) sell himself/herself to the public while creating a professional image. AUC 106 – Auctioneers Chant:
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to 1) master the use of tongue twisters; 2) master the use and understanding of number drills; and 3) master effective use of rhythm. This subject introduces students to public speaking. AUC 108 – Starting An Auction Business:
Upon completion of this subject students will be able to 1) ascertain whether they want to start an auction business or work as a contract auctioneer; 2) perform all duties required to start an auction company; and 3) budget all the equipment and assets required to start an auction company. AUC 111 – Clerking and Cashiering:
This subject introduces students to clerking and cashiering at an auction. AUC 115 – Uniform Commercial Code and Security Agreements:
This subject introduces students to the UCC-1 and security agreements in regards to personal and business property sold at auction. AUC 118 – Ring Work/Bid Spotting:
This subject is devoted to teaching students how to perform the duties of a ring person or bid spotter at auction. AUC 119 – Livestock Auctions, Purebred, and Pedigrees:
This subject introduces students to the basics of cattle and livestock auctions. AUC 120 – Automobile Auctions:

AUC 122 – Licensing and Regulation/Auction Law:
This subject introduces students to the current Texas laws governing auctioneers. Upon completion, students will be able to 1) identify the department that regulates the industry; 2) recognize the laws with which auctioneers are required to comply; 3) know what they must do in order to obtain and keep a license in Texas; and 4) identify ethical issues for auctioneers. They will be able to proceed with obtaining a license to be an auctioneer and be aware of ethical and legal issues that auctioneers face each day. AUC 123 – Contracting Auctions:

AUC 128 – Sale Brochures and Catalog Preparation:
This subject introduces students to the skills necessary to create and prepare auction sale brochures and catalogs. Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to 1) create a basic auction brochure; and 2) create and produce an auction catalog. AUC 129 – Industrial and Commercial Equipment:
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to 1) identify and recognize industrial and commercial equipment; 2) avoid the pitfalls of industrial and commercial auctions that have hazardous waste and lien liabilities; and 3) conduct an industrial and commercial equipment auction. AUC 130 – Auction Gallery Sales:
This subject introduces students to gallery sales. AUC 131 - Antiques and Collectibles:
This subject introduces students to auctioning antiques and collectibles. AUC 132 – Auction Bookkeeping/Accounting/ Sales Tax:

AUC 134 – Computers in the Auction Business:
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to 1) recognize the usefulness and implementation of computers at auctions; 2) explain to sellers how the computer is used in their business; and 3) review and show sellers how computer printouts are used to create auction files and final reports. They will be able to explain the value of computers in the auction business and implement computer programs for their sale records. AUC 136 – Estate and Household Auctions:

AUC 137 – Auction Security:

Newspaper advertising introduces students to the skills necessary to create and place effective auction ads. AUC 139 – Test Review:
This subject provides students with a final test review prior to the last day. AUC 140 – Professional Auctioneers Organizations:
This subject introduces students to organizations for professional auctioneers. Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to 1) identify national and state organizations that are recognized for the advancement of auctioneers and for the auction industry; 2) network with other auctioneers through auctioneer organizations; and 3) take advantage of opportunities offered by professional auctioneering organizations. Length of Term

The Texas Auction Academy school term is a nine day course starting on a Saturday. The intensive training begins at 8:00 a.m. each morning and continues until 7:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with the exception of the last day, Sunday, when class is dismissed at 2 p.m. There is a one hour lunch break each day and a ten minute break each hour. Students will receive 10 hours of instruction and auction related activities each weekday and 9 hours each weekend day except the final Sunday, which is 6 hours. The Texas Auction Academy employs a team of professionals to teach the course who will be very interactive with the students during the entire session. Students will receive a total of 83 hours of intense auctioneering instruction and training that is outlined on Page 12.

Satisfactory Progress

Students attending the Texas Auction Academy will be graded on attendance, conduct, ability to sell, participation in the classroom and overall comprehension of material presented. A progress report will be issued to each student at the end of the fourth day of class. A student must receive a score of 21 or above to receive a satisfactory mark. Should a student show unsatisfactory progress at that time, which is defined as any one or more of the following: 1) Scoring 20 or below on the Progress Report; 2)Three or more unexcused tardies; 3) unacceptable conduct such that it disrupts the class and is detrimental to the learning environment of the other students as determined by the school Director; and/or 4) lack of participation in the classroom that directly impacts the students ability to progress in learning the basic auction chant as determined by the school Director, then in such event the student will be placed on probation until the end of the sixth day of class. If, at this time, the student continues to show unsatisfactory progress the student will be dropped from the program. Should the school Director determine that the student will benefit from repeating the course during a future session, the student will be permitted to do so at no additional charge; however, students terminated for unsatisfactory progress cannot be readmitted until a minimum of one grading period has passed in accordance with Title 40, Texas Administrative Code, Section 807.241-24. In order to receive a final grade of Satisfactory (S), all students are required to have received a grade of satisfactory on the progress report issued on the fourth day of class; or in the event that a student is placed on probation, the student must have demonstrated satisfactory progress by the end of the sixth day of class; and students must also score a grade of 75 or higher on the final written examination given on the last day of class. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to those students receiving a final mark of Satisfactory (S).

Any student that has paid his/her full tuition and must withdraw for an appropriate reason unrelated to the student’s academic status may receive a grade of incomplete. In such event, the student will be allowed to re-enroll in the program during the 12-month period following the date the student withdraws and complete those incomplete subjects without payment of additional tuition.
